β-Decay of Neutron-Rich Nucleus 18N

Abstract: We used the shell model to investigate the β decays of the neutron-rich nucleus 18N. The reduced transition strengths B(GT) of Gamow-Teller β decays in 18N are calculated with the different interactions in the psd shell space; the results are compared and dicussed. A series of consistent results with the recent experimental data are found in this shell space, which seems to show that the observed properties of 18N and 18O are mainly produced in psd shell space. In addition, a B(GT) value is predicted around 9.5MeV in our calculation. These will be useful in the future experiment.
