Abstract：
By means of an annular mica detector, the half-life and excitation function had been measured for the shape isomer ^240mPu produced in the reaction ²³⁸U （α, 2n）. A value of 3.5±0.5 ns was obtained for the half-life of ^240mPu. The shape isomer excitation energy Bi was found to be 3.2±0.5 MeV.
