Abstract: The 3rd generation synchrotron light source requires high level of electron beam orbit stability. Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) is a 3rd generation light source under construction; its orbit stability requirement is up to micro or sub-micro range. The storage ring mechanical components vibration caused by the ground motion would influence the orbit stability. The ground motion of SSRF is severe. It is essential to control the vibration of the mechanical components. Vibration damping is an effective method to control the vibration. The author designed a vibration damping structure for the SSRF mechanical components. The test results show that it can effectively control the mechanical vibration.
