Abstract: The construction,operation principle and performance of a parallel plate avalanche counter with an active area of 60×400mm2 and another one with an active area of 70×140mm2 and one dimensional position sensitivity are described in detail.It is discussed how to combine a large solid angle time-of-flight setup by using the two counters described above.
